Why bubbles are so dangerous

This clip (after the jump because it insists on auto-playing) is an illustration of why it’s so dangerous to live in a bubble in which your ideas are never challenged, in which you never have to support them in vigorous debate. Being forced to defend your ideas with critical thinking, logic and reason, free of fallacies, will do one of two things: It will strengthen and refine your arguments or it will cause you to abandon or amend your positions.

This video features David Boies, one of the attorneys in the lawsuit that claims that California’s Proposition 8 is unconstitutional.
