‘My bad’

The Boston Globe’s web site has a slide show of what it terms the “10 Most Egregiously Necessary Apologies” — and the current GOP ticket is mentioned twice. The slide show incudes Sarah Palin’s pseudo-apology if anyone misunderstood her clear implication that some parts of America are “anti-American” and John McCain’s apology for a nasty joke about then-First Daughter Chelsea Clinton’s appearance.

A pseudo-apology, by the way, does not admit that the speaker made a mistake, but instead expresses regret that someone was offended by the speaker’s words or deeds. John Gibson of Fox offered a pseudo-apology not too long ago.
