Empirical evidence that decriminalization works

Salon’s Glenn Greenwald writes a teaser piece about the “unquestionable success” of drug decriminalization in Portugal. The sweeping change made in 2001 applies to all substances including cocaine and heroin. More details will be available next month when Greenwald presents a report on Portugal’s experience at the Cato Institute.

As a pragmatist liberal with a strong libertarian streak, I’m looking forward to it.
