At The Huffington Post, Keli Goff calls out former New York City mayor and spectacularly failed Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani for his uber-hypocritical stance on marriage equality — which came up again after New York Gov. David Paterson introduced a bill in the state legislature that would legalize same-six marriage. Key quote:
“Marriage,” [Giuliani] believes, “both traditionally and legally, has always been between a man and a woman and should remain between a man and woman.”
This coming from a man who believes so strongly in the sanctity of “traditional” marriage that he is currently giving it a third go round. The same man who lived with a committed gay couple after his second wife put him out for dallying with the woman who is now his third.
Gee, Rudy, hasn’t traditional marriage traditionally been between one man and one woman for life, not one man and three different women in sequence? Hasn’t it also been about fidelity, that is, without extra-marital affairs?
While Giuliani may not have intellectual honesty or moral standing to pass judgment on “traditional marriage,” we can say this much: He’s got hypocrisy and chutzpah to spare.
