Seeing parallels between Sean and Elian

I wonder how many people who are (rightly) applauding the return of Sean Goldman to his father — the child was taken from his birthplace, America, and kept in a foreign country, Brazil, by his mother, who died, and then her relatives fought an extended battle to keep him in there, away from his father — criticized the US returning Elian Gonzalez — the child was taken to from his birthplace, Cuba, to a foreign country, America, by his mother, who died, and then her relatives fought an extended battle to keep him there, away from his father.
